Recycling

SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLING HAS BEGUN WITHIN THE GRANADA SANITARY DISTRICT!!

Your recycling containers are collected every week on your regular service day. Please see below for a list of items accepted in the curbside recycling program.

 

Acceptable Recycling Materials
Only place recyclable materials into your blue container!

Please empty and rinse all food and beverage containers.
Glass
All colors of beverage and food containers
  • Beverage bottles (beer, juice, soda)
  • Mayonnaise jars
  • Spaghetti sauce jars

Metal
  • Rinsed food and beverage cans
    (aluminum, steel, and tin)
  • Empty aerosol cans
  • Loose lids from jars

Plastic
Narrow-neck plastic containers marked #1 - #7 and Wide mouth plastics #2 through #5
  • Detergent and shampoo containers
  • Milk and orange juice jugs
  • Water bottles
  • Yogurt, margarine and butter tubs

Batteries
  • Recycle household batteries by sealing them in a clear plastic bag and placing them NEXT TO your curbside recycling bins or ON TOP of your recycle cart.
Paper
Most clean and dry household paper:
  • Cardboard (flattened and broken down)
  • Computer, copy and fax paper
  • Envelopes
  • File folders
  • Food boxes (cereal, crackers, remove liners)
  • Glossy paper
  • Junk mail
  • Magazines, catalogs and phone books
  • Newspaper

  • Shredded paper (to help reduce litter, please place shredded paper in paper bags before placing in cart)

Recology of the Coast Yard Waste ProgramEach resident can set out 4 - 32gallon cans of green waste for collection every other week on your regular garbage day. Please see below for a list of accepted items.

Important Green Waste Notes!
  • Do not put yard waste in plastic bags.
     
  • Green waste must fit inside toter and lid must be closed.
     
  • Small branches should be cut into three-foot lengths or less.
     
  • Please Note: Green Waste cans are emptied manually. Due to weight limits, acceptability of cans is at the discretion of the driver. Cans filled to capacity with some materials can exceed the weight limit and will not be emptied.

Garbage

All garbage, recycle and green waste containers must be placed at the curb by 6:00am on your service day.  

We are not responsible for any articles left on or near collection containers. 

Please report any missed collections to our office by the following business day. 

Please put your garbage in bags before placing in your container, to help prevent loose trash from falling out on windy days or when the container is emptied. 

Extra Garbage must be bagged and arrangements made with our office in advance for pickup. 

For your convenience, Extra Bag Tags are also available and allow you to put out extra garbage on your regular service day without having to call ahead. To purchase Extra Bag Tags contact Recology of the Coast or call Customer Service at (650) 355-9000

Special Collection

Bulky Item Pick-Up ProgramRecology of the Coast Bulky Item Collection

In addition to the Quarterly Recycling Days, Recology of the Coast offers a special pickup service for large or bulky items as well as extra garbage bags from your curb. Couches, mattresses and washing machines are examples of bulky items which are too large to be disposed of with your normal collection.

Each residents are given 3 collections per year. Each collection is limited to either 5-32gallong bags OR one (1) large item no longer than 6 feet and no heavier than 200 pounds. If you wish to use both of your collections on the same day, you may request to do so at the time of scheduling.

This service is offered Monday - Friday and is available on your regular garbage day. Please notify our office 24 hours in advance of your desired pick-up day. Pick-Ups are non-transferable and cannot be carried over from year to year.

NOTE: Weight limits may apply and acceptability of items is at the discretion of the driver. Also, Hazardous items are not accepted curbside. Please click here for recycling and disposal information.

Extra Bag Tags
