Want to be more Earth-Friendly?

Instead of using the black, white or clear plastic bags for your garbage, start using biodegradable bags. These bags will decompose in our landfills in less than 5 years whereas the plastic bags will sit there for decades! Here are a few stores nearby that carry biodegradable bags:
| Ace Hardware San Pedro Ave. Pacifica (Pedro Point) 650-359-2401 |
Mollie Stones |
| Lunardi's 2801 San Bruno Ave. (SB Ave. & Skyline Blvd.) San Bruno, 94066 650-952-2851 |

Special Collection Programs
Bulky Item Pick-Up Program
Recology of the Coast offers a special pickup service for large or bulky items as well as extra garbage bags from your curb. Couches, mattresses and washing machines are examples of bulky items which are too large to be disposed of with your normal collection.
Each residence is given 2 collections per year. Each collection is limited to either 5-32gallon bags OR one (1) large item no longer than 6 feet and no heavier than 200 pounds. If you wish to use both of your collections on the same day, you may request to do so at the time of scheduling.
This service is offered Monday - Friday and is available on any day you choose. Please notify our office 24hours in advance of your desired pick-up day. Pick-Ups are non-transferable and cannot be carried over from year to year.
NOTE: Weight limits may apply and acceptability of items is at the discretion of the driver. Also, Hazardous items are not accepted curbside. Please click here for recycling and disposal information.
For more information or to schedule an On-Call Collection, please contact our customer service department.

Americans with Disabilities Act
Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, those residents defined as disabled, and whose disability prevents their placing containers at the curbside, shall have the option of placing their containers near their dwelling, visible from curbside. Recology of the Coast will pick up the refuse from this location, or any other location suitable to both parties, and return your container to the same location.

To help keep usable items out the landfill, which helps preserve our environment, please consider joining the Coastside region of San Mateo County's Freecycle Group.
This online group gives residents and businesses another resource for reuse within our community. All items posted on the website must be FREE. So if you have something to give or perhaps there is something you need, Freecycle may be just the answer.
